What is Craniosacral therapy?
Fascia is a thin membrane that covers everything in the body like a stocking. As with a stocking, “kinks” or “twists” can occur disturbing the local area but also causing a strain surrounding tissues. This can disturb function. Craniosacral therapy is a gentle hands-on therapy which communicates with the fascial system and addresses these restrictions. The “kinks” unwind, the energy flow is restored and healing can occur.

What is somatoemotional release?
Another aspect of craniosacral therapy is facilitating the body to release trapped emotions which are sometimes the cause of the “kinks.” We now know that the memory of a trauma is not just in an area of the brain but is also stored in the affected tissues e.g the neck in the case of whiplash. This is called tissue memory. During a craniosacral therapy session, as a tissue is “un-winding” tissue memory may be triggered and the frustration or anger e.t.c associated with the situation is released. The block is freed. Energy flows. Healing can now begin

Craniosacral Therapy for babies

In new borns, infants and children, colic, hyperactivity, feeding and sleeping problems and faulty development are often helped by Craniosacral Therapy.

Routine evaluation of newborns often reveals and permits the easy release of strains and restrictions that may, if left lead to chronic dysfunction later in life. This applies not only where birth has been difficult, but also with normal deliveries.
