What is psycotherapy and what can it do for you?


Holistic psychotherapy differs from normal psychotherapy in that it takes the whole person into account, hence the word “holistic” Most people operate mainly on the mental and physical level, not realizing that the spiritual aspect of themselves is the most important, as it contains all the direction and purpose necessary for successful living. When people are feeling unhappy or unfulfilled in life, it is largely due to the fact that they have lost contact with who they really are and are more influenced by external factors than internal motivation. Holistic psychotherapy helps people become unstuck and get back into the flow where they are expressing all aspects of themselves freely. It is growth oriented and focuses on what the client wants (goals e.t.c) thus empowering the client to own their successes and be self motivated. The mind is key to the success or failure of our lives and a re-education on how our thoughts effect us is a large part of the process, the focus being on how to live and enjoy life to the full, by using our minds for us rather than against us.

While relying on my psychotherapy training, I also draw on my skills as a life coach, Neuro Linguistic Programmer, Relaxation therapist and Yoga teacher and my goal for all is to help people live more fulfilling authentic lives.

What to Expect
Holistic psychotherapy recognizes a self beneath the mask or ‘personality’ that one adopts from a lifetime of conditioned beliefs and mindsets. It is the drawing out of this real self that one sees and begins to appreciate the real value of this holistic approach.

The client begins to appreciate the real value of this holistic approach. The client begins to appreciate their own strengths and draws on resources which may have lain dormant and long forgotten. They may begin to become more engaged with life and in so doing rediscover interests, passions and new aspects of themselves which is quite revealing and exciting to the client.

This new found confidence and appreciation of the self helps the client to have more trust in their own ability to trust their choices and so move forward in a more confident manner. Relaxation is part and parcel of this process of therapy and this has many benefits on all levels; mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually.

I work with the individual needs of each client, as no one formula fits all. Each client is different; some clients need help with a particular issue which is inhibiting them from moving  forward in life, others may just feel that they have lost their zest for life and it has all become a little humdrum, while others may have specific goals they want to achieve. There is a growing number of people interested in personal and spiritual growth. 

Whatever the client brings to the sessions, I find the various aspects of my training and experience, equips me to deal with needs of most clients.
