Baby Massage is an ancient tradition in many cultures which is being rediscovered in the West. Clinical evidence shows that loving, touching, nurturing contact between parent and baby has an important impact on their development.

Every parent can learn how to massage their new baby, providing wonderful benefits to both baby and parent.

Baby Massage can:
• Help to calm babies and relieve stress
• Soothe babies and help them to sleep better
• Aid digestion and help to relieve colic, wind and constipation
• Help develop muscle tone, co-ordination and suppleness
• Strengthen the immune system
• Regulate breathing and relieve nasal congestion
• Improve skin texture
• Improve communication between parent and baby
• Enhance parent’s ability to understand baby’s needs

Giving your baby a daily massage will include all elements of attachment parenting. These include eye-to-eye contact, smiling, facial expressions, soothing sounds, touch, smell and interaction. The quality of this closeness will enhance your bonding with your baby and will have lifelong benefits.

On top of all these wonderful benefits to baby massage you will have FUN at a baby massage class! Classes are designed for babies from about two weeks old to pre-crawling babies. They usually run for five weeks, for about an hour, although this often runs over a bit as we finish with a cup of tea and a chat! Class sizes are small, no more than six mums and babies. Dads are of course more than welcome to come along. I also am happy to teach you massage in your own home if for any reason you can’t get to a class. This option suits parents of twins or perhaps dads who work during the day and prefer an evening session. Special needs babies benefit hugely from baby massage too and are very welcome at my classes.

I am a Certified Infant Massage Instructor (CIMI) and I completed my training in 2003 with the International Association of Infant Massage. I have been teaching classes for the last four years and I am a member of Baby Massage Ireland, the Irish chapter of this association. We infant massage instructors are committed to helping you learn interactive communication with your baby through positive loving touch. Our website is www.babymassageireland.com
I am also available to present information about Baby Massage to interested parent groups and professionals.
